Process and Milestones

The project is currently in the Feasibility Study phase and progressing in three different areas:

The Feasibility Study phase will culminate in a Building Committee recommendation to the School Committee and Select Board for the scope of project to pursue (i.e. addition plus renovation or new construction)

Educational Work Sessions: Visioning & Space Programming

HMFH and their consultants are leading meetings with Andover educators and students to determine project goals and requirements for teaching and learning within a new or renovated school.

Educational Visioning assists the district in planning both aspirationally and collectively for educational delivery. The output of this effort is the Education Plan.

Space Programming determines the types, number, size, and adjacencies of spaces within the building. The output of this effort is the Space Summary.

As one example consideration, do grade-level, departmental, or hybrid clusters best meet the educational program goals of Andover High? General models include:

Building and Site Working Sessions

Meetings to determine project goals and requirements for the building and site. These work sessions include:

Sustainability Charrettes consider priorities related to materials and equitable design, health and wellbeing, waste and water, carbon and energy, and other project sustainability factors.

Town Departments Reviews solicit project feedback from Facilities and Engineering, Planning, Conservation, Public Works, Andover Police and Fire, and other town departments.

Public Outreach

A high school building project could be the most significant capital project the Town of Andover has ever undertaken. The full Andover community is encouraged to get engaged, provide input and stay informed.
